As most parents like to do, mine sometimes give advice. And as a daughter who takes pride in her own independence, I tend to ignore it. At least initially. As the words start to sink in afterwards, I can usually admit they are ‘sometimes’ right. (Please don’t tell them I said that).
Their advice came during a discussion about my work as a freelance writer, and the suggestion was that I “need to tell people more about the value you bring to their company and why they need to hire you.” I immediately recoiled. It’s true, I can be a little bit self-deprecating. I’m not very good at telling people why they should work with me. So here’s my attempt.
Why hire me? I know perhaps you might prefer to produce written content yourself rather than hire an external freelance writer. But sometimes you still need to. For example, you might be too busy to find the time to write your own blogs, newsletters or press releases. Or maybe it just makes good business sense for you to concentrate your efforts on other areas of work. When it comes to content creation, I know I can help people free up their time to focus on other tasks instead.
A professional copywriter (hello there!) can bring new insight and a lot of value to your team and help you to produce high-quality content that attracts customers and converts sales. I know I’m a good addition to a team. In a nutshell, I am reliable, efficient and can get the job done well to support your business. You can leave it up to me to create a compelling and unique tone of voice for your organisation. Find out more about the services I offer here.
But it’s about much more than that too. When my parents made their point, I got to thinking about what I personally bring to the table. And it’s not just that I’m a writer with nearly two decades of experience working with a range of brands and charities – it’s that I’m a storyteller.
I listen to people and can get to the heart of their tale and make it matter in a way that brings others in. Yes, you can always rely upon AI to get your blogs or website content written. But when it comes to creating something compelling that results in interest and a resulting action, it’s storytelling that matters. I can also go the extra mile by adding interest through interviews, research and building in informative facts and stats.
So in summary, what benefit could I bring to your organisation? Having worked as both a communications professional and features writer, I can take humdrum content and breathe new life into it, getting to the heart of the story.
