Take a moment to think about all those times in your life when something has been said – or written – that stays with you forever.
Those things never really fade. Whether it’s the first ‘I love you’ or the last goodbye. The time a stranger said something that stayed with you far longer than the encounter. The words uttered by sunset or over an otherwise ordinary breakfast time. What about the brief remarks in a postcard, a story that etched itself into your mind, the lyrics that sung to you? Or even the teacher’s remarks that changed the course of your career.
Each and every day we see how the power of words stays with us, and helps us make decisions on who we are, and who we want to be in the future.
When I’m thinking about writing for a company, please understand it’s not simply a case of just writing. It is also about taking the time to talk to you, understand your ethos, and work out who you are and what you really need from my services. It wouldn’t do any good to write as ‘me’ every time. I need to discover your voice and what makes your work unique. Otherwise the words simply won’t speak to me, you or anyone else.
I am a firm believer that writing is more interesting when it jumps off the page with personality. How you talk about yourself doesn’t have to be perfectly perfect – it just needs to be ‘you’, with your passion (and compassion), and drive.
So, I do my research. I find out who you are, get to know you a little, and then inject a bit of personality into the words to help define your brand as you want it to be. Your website and marketing materials need to be able to tell the world who you are and ideally impart the story of how you can help make a difference.
Ever since I was little, I’ve collected pieces of poetry, sayings, stories and expressions that mean something to me. Words are powerful. Can you help your company say something that makes its mark?
