The wonder of words
I love the written word and the power it has to make people feel certain emotions and take action. How it raises memories, clarifies thought, and keeps your mind mulling over them for hours, days, and even years after reading them.
Words can make or break your business, particularly when looking at how you position yourself and your tone of voice.
Previously a writer for national magazines, and having worked for charitable organisations for more than a decade, I am passionate about the power of words for making a difference.
1984
Born in Essex. No jokes please
1994
Aged 10, won a Brownies competition for best designed poster, advertising for a new Brown Owl
2004
Started writing my neverending novel, as yet unfinished
2006
Graduated from York University with a degree in English and Related Literature, including a module on Anglo Saxon Literature studied in its own language
2006
Started working in national magazine journalism, writing articles on the inspiring home renovations, gardens and community groups that can be found across the UK
2009
Also reviewed gardening products and may have accidentally released some composting worms across the office building…
2011-2021
A decade spent working as an in-house comms expert, focused on food and farming, environment, heritage, libraries, the arts, events, outdoor learning and more
2018-2021
The birth of my two sons, whom I aim to inspire with a love of words and a sense of adventure in the great outdoors
